Although we hope you never have to experience any of these covered medical conditions, you should know this policy will pay you for each condition independently – so if you have a heart attack one year and are diagnosed with cancer later on, then you would receive two separate payments. Payment of selected benefit amounts is made upon the first diagnosis of each critical illness and is subject to a 30-day waiting period following member’s effective date of coverage.
Benefit payments are reduced by 50% if the insured is 65 or over, and coverage terminates at age 70. For a complete explanation of benefits, please refer to the Insurance Certificate.
Pre-Existing Waiting Period: Please be aware, if in the past 12 months any person to be insured has been diagnosed with, advised to seek treatment for, received medication for, or treated by a medical practitioner for a condition then there will be a 12-month waiting period for critical illnesses related to that condition.
